Website redesign and rebuild

Website Redesign and Rebuild Services

A website redesign changes how your site looks, reads and converts while keeping the platform underneath. A rebuild replaces the foundation: the platform, the code and often the structure. We check the foundation first, then recommend the one that fits.

Redesign or rebuild: how to tell

Choosing the wrong one is expensive in both directions, so the decision comes from an audit, not from taste.

Signs a rebuild makes more sense

  • Pages stay slow on mobile even after images, caching and plugins have been optimized.
  • The site breaks when plugins, themes or the CMS are updated.
  • It runs on software that is no longer supported, or on a builder you can’t export your content from.
  • You need features such as booking, a customer portal or AI chat that the current setup can’t add without workarounds.

How a redesign or rebuild runs

  1. Audit. We review speed and Core Web Vitals, the CMS, security, forms and conversion paths, and list every URL with its traffic from Search Console.
  2. Decide what to keep. Pages that rank, convert or earn links are kept or improved. Thin and duplicate pages are merged or redirected.
  3. Plan structure and content. Navigation, page templates and copy are planned around what your buyers search for, with SEO in the plan from day one.
  4. Design and build. Design in Figma with our UI/UX team, then development in a staging copy on the platform the audit points to.
  5. SEO-safe launch. Every old URL gets a 301 redirect to its closest new page, titles and structured data carry over, and staging blocks come off.
  6. Monitor. We watch Search Console after launch and fix any missed redirect or indexing issue straight away.

Will a redesign hurt my SEO?

It doesn’t have to. Rankings usually fall after a relaunch for avoidable reasons: URLs changed without redirects, pages that ranked were deleted, headings were rewritten away from what the page ranked for, or a staging noindex tag went live. Our launch checklist covers each of them.

A short wobble while Google recrawls the new site is normal. A drop that lasts is investigated straight away, starting with the redirect map and Search Console’s indexing report.

What you get

  • A written recommendation: redesign, rebuild or targeted fixes, with the reasons.
  • Page templates your team can edit without a developer.
  • Faster pages and a cleaner mobile experience.
  • A redirect map, and Search Console checks after launch.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a website redesign and a rebuild?

A redesign updates the visible layer, such as layout, branding, images, navigation and copy, while keeping the existing platform and code. A rebuild replaces the foundation: the CMS or framework, the code and often the structure. Redesigns are quicker; rebuilds remove technical problems a new design can’t reach.

How do I know if my website needs a redesign or a rebuild?

If your site is fast, secure, easy to edit and can support the features you need, a redesign is usually enough. If it stays slow after optimization, breaks on updates, runs on unsupported software or can’t add required features, you need a rebuild. An audit of speed, security and the CMS settles it.

Will redesigning my website hurt my Google rankings?

Not if the launch is handled carefully. Rankings fall when URLs change without 301 redirects, ranking content is removed, headings are rewritten away from what pages ranked for, or a staging noindex tag goes live. We map every URL, carry over titles and structured data, and watch Search Console after launch.

How long does a website redesign take?

A simple website usually takes four to eight weeks. A rebuild with new content and many URLs to redirect takes longer. The biggest variables are the number of page templates, how much copy needs rewriting and how quickly feedback comes back. The timeline is set out in the written scope.

Can you redesign my site without changing the platform?

Yes. If your WordPress, Shopify or custom site is technically healthy, we can redesign the theme, templates, navigation and copy on the same platform. Your team keeps the editing workflow it knows, and there is less to migrate.

Should I keep my old content when I rebuild?

Keep content that ranks, converts or earns links, and improve it where needed. Merge thin or overlapping pages into stronger ones and redirect the old URLs. Deleting pages that bring in traffic is one of the most common reasons sites lose rankings after a relaunch.
